Henry Cavill upcoming movies

Henry Cavill, best known for his iconic roles as Superman in Man of Steel and Justice League, continues to expand his cinematic universe in 2025. After his strong performance as Geralt of Rivia, the “White Wolf,” in The Witcher Season 3, Cavill is stepping into new worlds filled with action, fantasy, and adventure.

Let’s take a look at all of Henry Cavill’s upcoming movies, projects, and TV shows that have fans excited this year and beyond.

1.Highlander Reboot (2027 TBA)

The biggest project currently tied to Cavill is the Highlander reboot, directed by John Wick filmmaker Chad Stahelski.

According to Deadline and Variety, Cavill has been attached to the film since 2021, and it’s finally moving closer to production. Stahelski recently confirmed that filming is expected to begin in September 2025 in London and Scotland, with Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists backing the project.

The original Highlander (1986) starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery, and Clancy Brown as immortal warriors who battle each other to gain power. The reboot promises to modernize that story while keeping its mystical and sword-heavy roots intact.

Cavill himself expressed excitement about the project, saying:

“Being not shy with swords and having a director as talented as Chad Stahelski at the helm, this is an opportunity like no other. Deep diving into franchise storytelling with all the tools at our disposal is going to make this an adventure I (and hopefully all of you) shall never forget.”

While it’s still unclear whether Cavill will portray the Highlander himself or a new character within the universe, the movie is expected to arrive sometime in 2027 or 2028. Actor Russell Crowe is also rumored to join the cast, possibly playing a mentor-style role similar to Sean Connery’s Ramirez.

2. In the Grey (Post-Production)

Next up, Cavill teams up with Guy Ritchie once again for the action-thriller In the Grey, co-starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza González.

The film follows two elite extraction specialists tasked with rescuing a senior female negotiator during a high-stakes mission. Alongside the main trio, the movie also features Rosamund Pike, Fisher Stevens, Jason Wong, and Emmett J. Scanlan.

Ritchie not only directed the movie but also wrote and produced it alongside Ivan Atkinson and John Friedberg. Filming wrapped in 2023, but due to extended post-production, the original release date of January 17, 2025, was postponed.

A new release date hasn’t been confirmed yet, but fans can expect it to arrive sometime in late 2025 or early 2026.

3. The Rosie Project (Pre-Production)

Henry Cavill will star in the upcoming rom-com, “The Rosie Project.”

The picture, which has been in development at Sony Pictures for a few years, is based on Graeme Simsion’s novel of the same name and will be released later this year.

As per Deadline, Steve Falk will write and direct the film. It is based on a story of an unlucky-in-love university professor who writes a detailed questionnaire in order to locate a wife and meets an eccentric woman who does not fit any of his “requirements,” but who may be the perfect woman for him.

There is no confirmed release date for the movie adaptation of The Rosie Project because production has been repeatedly delayed

4. Squadron 42 (Post-Production)

Cavill voiced Ryan Enright in Squadron 42

Just like Keanu Reeves, Henry Cavill is also lending his star presence in the upcoming video game, Squadron 42. Along with Henry, it also features the acting talents like Andy Serkis, Mark Hamill, Mark Strong, Gillian Anderson, Gary Oldman, Ben Mendelsohn, John Rhys-Davies, and many more.

The story is about a rookie UEE Navy combat pilot, and it’s set in the Star Citizen universe. Cavill is the voice behind Squadron 42 commanding member Ryan Enright.

The creators, not rushing out, insist that they’ll release it when it’s done. Here’s some inside motion picture of Henry Cavill in action at the Games production.

5. Mass Effect Adaptation (Rumored)

Henry Cavill shared a post on his Instagram hinting at his upcoming project that is speculated to be a Mass Effect adaptation.

He shared a black and white picture of himself sitting on seat holding sheets of paper that have been blurred. The actor mentioned that it could either be a secret project or just some paper with random words. However, Cavill did not reveal what it is about and told that fans have to wait for it.

Some keen Internet sleuth removes unwanted blur from photos that show words on the page found are Cerberus, Tali’Zorah, and Geth – all hints towards the Mass Effect series.

6. Voltron (2026 Expected)

One of the most talked-about additions to Cavill’s slate is the live-action Voltron movie, being developed by Amazon MGM Studios.

Rawson Marshall Thurber (Red Notice, Skyscraper) directs from a script co-written with Ellen Shanman. The film adapts the beloved anime-inspired franchise that follows a team of space explorers piloting robotic lions which combine to form the mighty Voltron.

Filming for Voltron officially wrapped shooting in May 2025, but the studio hasn’t yet set a release date. Insiders predict a mid-to-late 2026 theatrical debut, following Amazon’s blockbuster release calendar.

Given Thurber’s past success with action-comedy hits and Cavill’s rising profile in sci-fi epics, Voltron could become one of the biggest event films of 2026.

7. Warhammer 40K (Confirmed)

Warhammer 40,000,” a miniature wargame by Games Workshop, immerses players in tabletop battles using miniature models. The game’s expansive fictional setting, set in a stagnant future besieged by aliens and supernatural threats, has been richly detailed through numerous official novels.

With its vast lore, Warhammer 40,000 has the potential to evolve into a major film franchise, possibly linking to the earlier Warhammer Fantasy series. In December 2022, Henry Cavill revealed a deal with Amazon for a live-action adaptation, marking the inception of the Warhammer Cinematic Universe. While still in early development, promising casting choices hint at an exciting cinematic venture awaiting fans.

8. Broadsword (In Development)

Cavill is also rumored to reunite with Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie (Mission: Impossible – Fallout) for a World War II espionage drama titled Broadsword.

The story follows a Special Operations Executive (S.O.E.) mission in Nazi-occupied Europe, centered on a marine captain who crashes in France and must complete his mission alone. Cavill’s experience in The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare makes him a natural fit for another covert war drama.

Warner Bros. is producing Broadsword under its recent multi-film deal with Tom Cruise, signaling high production value and a strong theatrical push. Although no release window is confirmed, pre-production discussions are already underway.
