The return of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home was one of the best scenes in the film. Andrew had done a lot of hard work to keep its secrets, repeatedly denied such reports.

Andrew admitted in a recent interview that lying about it was “stressful yet enjoyable.” Speaking to The Wrap, Andrew said:

“It was stressful, I’m not going to lie. It was rather stressful but also weirdly enjoyable.”

Andrew compared his disguising his look in the film to the famous party game Werewolf, in which a player is assigned to be a “werewolf” but must keep it hidden from the other players. “It was like a huge game of Werewolf that I was playing with journalists and people guessing, and it was a lot of fun,” Andrew explained.

“There were moments where I was like, ‘God, I hate lying.’ I don’t like to lie, and I’m not a good liar, but I kept framing it as a game. And I kept imagining myself purely as a fan of that character, which is not hard to do.”

The ‘Tick, Tick… Boom!’ star continued: “I placed myself in that position of, well, what would I want to know?… Would I want to be lied to?… Would I want to discover it when I went to the theatre?

“I would want the actor to do an incredibly good job of convincing me he wasn’t in it. And then I would want to lose my mind in the theatre when my instinct was proven right. That’s what I would want.”

Andrew was joined in the film by Tobey Maguire, a former Spider-Man, giving fans the chance to see three Spider-Man and sinister six villians in one movie.
