Matrix Resurrections

The Matrix Resurrections made money for Warner Bros., but not enough to be considered a box office success. The Matrix Resurrections has generated $107 million worldwide since its premiere last month, on a reported $190 million budget.

The Matrix sequel was also available to stream on HBO Max, which undoubtedly reduced the number of people in theatres. Although no viewership figures have been released, The Matrix Resurrections is claimed to be among “the top five most viewed HBO Max movies.”

When we add up the costs of marketing, promotion, and distribution, the financial picture becomes less rosy for Warner Bros. Matrix Resurrections might end up making a loss of at least $100 million by the time the dust settles, according to World of Reels.

Matrix Resurrections

The Matrix Resurrections was supposed to be the first installment in a new Matrix trilogy, but the film’s poor box office performance may have put a stop to any plans for a sequel.

Keanu Reeves had only signed a one-time deal, indicating that a sequel to The Matrix Resurrections would never be guaranteed.
